The chart for the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics (below) has some interesting connections with Australia's chart.

First, let's look at the Chart for the Beijing Games:

Pisces Ascendant, Leo Sun, Scorpio Moon

Astrology chart for the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics (Opening Ceremony): 8 August 2008, 20:08:08 (8:08:08PM) AWST (8he), Beijing, China.
"One World One Dream"   ...

... The Beijing Games could not have a more astro-logically fitting theme. During the opening ceremony, dreamy Pisces (the floaty 'Mutable Water' Sign) will Rise with its ruler Neptune on the North Node in the 12th House.

However, Neptune and Pisces are also associated with fog and smog (and self-deception) so it remains to be seen whether the Chinese government's efforts to prevent air pollution prove successful (and whether there's an about-face by Olympic officials who continue to deny that there could be a problem).

Pisces and dream-planet Neptune are also associated with drugs (and 'doping' in particular) so drugs-in-sport will likely be a hot issue.

Neptune is found in opposition with Mercury in Leo (Sign of the dramatic Lion), ruler of the 4th House (architecture), and so the dramatic centerpiece of the Games will be the fantastic Beijing National Stadium (also known as the 'Birds Nest'), not to be outdone by the other showpiece venue, the Beijing National Aquatics Center (also known as the 'Water Cube').

Now let's look at the synastry between the Beijing Games' chart and Australia's chart:

Favourable conjunctions
The Australian Sun is very close to the Beijing Games' Jupiter. Australia's Mars is conjunct the BG's Saturn. The Australian Uranus is right on the BG's MC. And Australia's Chiron is conjunct Pluto in the BG chart.

Challenging aspects: thrills and spills
First to stand out here is the opposition between Australia's Taurus Moon and the Beijing Games' Scorpio Moon. From this alignment we can expect plenty of competitive tension in water sports (Aquatics, Rowing) and between women competitors (probably in the pool). The opposition between Australia's Neptune and the Games' Pluto should add even more excitement to the mix.

Astrology Charts for Australian Competitors at the 2008 Olympics

Swimming hopeful Eamon Sullivan has his Pisces Moon conjunct the B2SO's Ascendant and his South Node and Ascendant conjunct the B2SO's Moon. Considering the stressful position of the B2SO Moon (in Scorpio at the apex of a t-square) Sullivan should gain an advantage by channelling his past training efforts (South Node) to achieve his personal best (Ascendant).
